The Imperial and Royal House Paleologos of Byzantium

H.I.R.H. Prince Henri de Vigo Aleramico Paleologo Constantine III, Heir to the throne of Byzantium, head of the Paleologue Dynasty, Grand Master of Order of St. John, Order of St. Jorge, Order of the Cross of Constantinople, Order of The Star of Asia of Imperial Byzantium, was born in Milan, Italy. During the Second World War he served his country valiantly, receiving the nomination of Honorary Military Officer and distinguished himself through his courage and brilliant strategy. As a loyal supporter of the royal family, Prince Henri has supported H.I.R.H. Umberto II to take place of the throne in May 1946 and was appointed as Commander of a military unit, headquartered in Milan, for the purpose of supporting Monarchy. Unfortunately in June 1946, the first election in Italy ended up with the result that majority of the votes were cast for the Republic King Umberto, and Prince Henri always respects the democratic choices of his people and was anxious to avoid the useless shedding of Italian blood, withheld armed intervention and terminated Monarchy. Since then Prince Henri III has traveled widely and taken up residence in many ports of the world, including Morocco (Tangier), Germany (Munich), Spain (Madrid), Portugal (Lisbon), United States (New York), Great Britain (London) and France (Cannes), where he has his principal residence.

Being a keen student of economics, politics and literature, Prince Henri III gives most of his time as a patron of cultural and scientific achievements. His House has founded, among others, the “Paleologus Award” which is conferred each year, during the International Congress of the Keratorefractive Society of the United States, to the best researcher in the field of the ophthalmology. One of the first to receive this award was the famous Dr. Fjodorov, who was the first to use the laser beam to eliminate the myopia. The Imperial Byzantine Award is conferred annually on those people who have distinguished themselves in the field of philanthropy and humanitarian aid. Prince Henri III and his Dynastic Orders are also noted for the support given to the American Cancer Society, the International Red Cross (he is one of very few people who have been given the highest decoration of this worthy Institution, the Medal of the Founder Henri Dunant), the Institute of St. Anthony of Padua, the Missionary Fathers Saveriani, the Charitable Work of the Orthodox, the Nuns of Mother Teresa of Calcuta, and many other Orphanages, Hospitals and Institutes which have been given aid of all kinds, including numerous ambulances for transporting patients. Prince Henri III has also founded the “International Academy of Scientific and Artistic Research” with centers in Paris, Brussels and New York, the “International Jurisdiction of Tangier (Morocco), the “Cross Legion”, the first aid in natural disasters, the “Gold Cross,” for Medical Aid. His work has been recognized and appreciated throughout the whole world and many States.

H.I.R.H Prince Henri de Vigo Aleramico Paleologo is the orthodox Heir to the throne of Byzantium and a fons honourum with the legal power to confer and confirm titles of nobility, fully valid in international law. The royal title is equivalent to queen of UK and queen of Nederland. This legal power has been reconfirmed several times by courts of law in different European countries.

The Prince’s ancestors have had their imperial heritage recognized the centuries by Popes, Kings and Emperors; the Prince himself has been formally recognized by various states and organizations, for example: the City of Miami, Florida proclaim May 26, 2002 as “PRINCE HENRI III & PRINCESS FRANCOISE DAY”.

His Highness Prince Henri has made a lot of contributions to rebuild the Royal House of Byzantium and also a lot of contributions for many international charity groups. On Nov. 17th, 2002, His Highness Prince Henri led Order of Byzantium and Lady Sara Kuo visiting Maltese President H.E. Guido de Marco. Then, on July, 2003 His Highness Prince Henri formally appointed Lady Sara Kuo as the Chief Commissioner of Byzantine autonomy in Malta Executive Committee on the end of year 2003.
